The small but steady cup
March roundup: Women's History Month, setting goals, and remembering pleasure
This week was hard. The news is an endless parade of landmines we can't not step on. I walked outside in an attempt to remember the joy of sun on my face and instead felt the bitter crush of wind chilling me through my clothes.
But then, despite the cold, I caught a whiff of rosemary blooming. Or it caught me. And I remembered, too, how some things exist only to be sweet.
I am endeavoring to pay a little more attention to the sweet. To let it be a small but steady cup from which everything good in us fills and empties and fills.
I'm grateful to you and all the ways you fill me.

P.S. It’s Vika’s and my five year anniversary next week! (Two years married.) This is us on our second date.
P.P.S. What book blew your mind as a teenager? Looking for recs.
For me it was Cunt by Inga Muscio, a book that didn’t really hold up past the age of about 22 (though your mileage may vary!), but it was revelatory for me to read an unabashed account of this oft-maligned body part, especially on the cusp of unraveling a lot of untruths about my young self.
TY for the mention! And agree the States Project is pretty awesome. Thanks for the uplifting recs :)
happy anniversary!!
